If you can believe the recent tweet sent out by Samsung Mobile US (and why wouldn’t you?), it looks like Samsung is finally set to release the alarmingly thin Galaxy Tab 10.1 onto the US market. While no definite launch date was given they did have this to say on Twitter:
Also mentioned in a tweet right after this one, was that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will also be shipping with the newest version of Android 3.1 Honeycomb installed and even updated their products page to reflect the update. New features in Android 3.1 include faster graphics performance thanks to better hardware acceleration, resizable homescreen widgets, recent apps menu now shows up to 16 apps, and USB hosting capabilities as some of the more notable improvements.
Its been heavily rumored to be launching on June 8th and I guess we’ll be finding out soon enough! Anyone out there been holding out on a tablet purchase for the Tab 10.1?

This thing is awesome. I have one from Google IO and I love, love, love it. With 3.1 it will be so much more delicious.
I have been very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very happy with my Google I/O Tab. Even though 3.0 Honeycomb has been kind of unstable and weird. 3.1 will only make it much more awesome.

I was going to wait for this, but then the Transformer showed up in Best Buy’s inventory and I had to bite. If Best Buy gets the 10.1 on or around release, I might just return the Transformer and get that then.
I did the same thing. I don’t think I will return mine because I love that the back doesn’t get finger prints like the 10.1.
I never understood why people care about the fingerprints so much. I’d say that the 10.1 is a sexier device than the Eee Pad Tranformer, even when doused in motor oil, slathered in peanut butter, or smudged with a couple finger prints.
i also ordered the transformer…was going to wait for the 10.1 but the lack of inputs is what killed it for me. yes i know you need the keyboard to get all the inputs for the transformer, but at least we have that option.
There are several accessories for the 10.1 that will let you do USB-in or HDMI-out…
Man I can’t wait for 3.1 and my invite to Google Music.
Google Music is Great. I really like the service. It’s like an improved Cloud iTunes music player. Now if only I could purchase Music from them. Take my money Google…
Still on the fence – part of me wants to wait until quad-core comes out in the fall/winter, but the other part wants a tablet NOW. Debating between a Transformer and holding out for the Galaxy 10.1.
I’ve been thinking of trying the Best Buy buy back program with this, anyone have any experience or thoughts on that?
Well, it depends on how much money you think you will have. you could buy the transformer now, since it’s cheaper, and then grab a quad-core tablet later in the year. I’m just going to buy the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and try to be content with it for a couple years.
I’m not sure about the Best Buy buy back program. If you bought a Galaxy Tab 10.1 for $500, you’d have to spend an additional $50 or so to buy into the program. Then if you return it within 6 months to buy a new tablet, you’ll get $250 back. That means that you are basically spending $300 to rent a Galaxy Tab 10.1 for 6 months (works out to $50/mo). If you don’t mind spending $50/mo to always have the latest and greatest in tablet computing, then it would probably be worth it for you.
Is this going to be stock or have some type of touchwiz?

most likely destined to be the best selling Honeycomb tablet thought the transformer could have a shot if Asus could ramp up the numbers; nonetheless, this is a great looking tablet.
I don’t think I would have purchased one of these, but I would’ve purchased one if they all had the Android-peppered back the IO one’s had. I just love the way the back looks.
Hoestly…I dont get the point of all these tabs. There is honestly NO major difference between these tablets to make big purchasing decision. Atleast with netbook and laptops you had differences in HDD, screen size and resolution, processor speed, gpu maker size & speed, etc etc.
These tablets are identical on 95% of the features. Its sad, they are all tegra 2 with 16gb, blah, blah, blah.
No one has done anything that puts them above anyone else like a really nice 8mp, 1080p camera with a GOOD lens or whatever (im not a camera guy, sorry).
Why dont we have 64GB built in yet? We cant have a small 128gb SSD card setup? Come on, LAME!

Buybavk program seems like a rip off. Couldn’t you just put it on eBay and get more? I mean in 6 months the tablet is only worth half of its original value?
I opted to go the Nook Color route after trying the Acer out for two weeks. I really felt like honeycomb wasn’t quite ready and not worth the price tag for what you get. HC really lacks a lot of apps, but the few that are built for HC are great.
Overall I am super impressed with my CM7 nook color. It out performed the Acer for the most part.
