It looks like the Desire Z is ready for some Gingerbread. Folks have started seeing notifications of an incoming major upgrade and, sure enough, HTC’s confirmed that this is Gingerbread. For now, we’re only hearing reports of its arrival on German handsets but other regions should have it before too long. This comes just days after we learned it would be here “soon” so HTC made real nice on that promise. Go ahead and check for yours in the settings menu. [via HTC Inside, Thanks Robert!]

I got tired of waiting and rooted my G2 on tues. Installed CM7. My first time rooting. I admire the people that do that, but I never had interest until now. Maybe you should think about rooting. Im loving it so far.

Updating my phone now. I’m in Australia, but I bought the phone from a Hong Kong re-seller, so not sure where the phone think’s it’s from!

update finished and all went well. Did not loose any settings or contacts. New load does seem a little quicker and have noticed a few new features already.
Still have issues with the screen jumping when trying to send SMS’s however.
i got it but after it downloads the update (108mb) it says the software update is corrupt do you want to download again and i tried but same thing over and over again.
