The IFA ball has already begun rolling with Sony taking to the stage two days ahead of the event. Today, they announced that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S will debut this October. Details are a bit scant at this moment as they chose to focus only on its “Reality Display” and the many entertainment services that will be available for Sony users across platforms, but we’ll be on the lookout for more information coming soon.
We’ve also learned of a new Sony Ericsson Walkman that is running Android. They’re calling it their “flagship” Walkman and judging from the apparent lack of an earpiece this isn’t a phone. All of this is still developing so stay tuned! [Engadget 1, 2]
[Update]: We’re hearing this one bests the first Arc with a 1.4GHz processor instead of just 1GHz. We’ve also get a press release straight ahead.

what is the point. everybody got there phone as a walkman now.
Does “Reality Display” refer to some type of new technology or just some new marketing name for their BRAVIA display?
I would like to know that as well. That was my reason for clicking this article, to find out if it was explained anywhere
reality display is on the current Xperia Arc. the screen has a high ppi of 245 compared to Apples 163 and samsungs 233.. its got extra image processing tech, also the screen is directly glued to the glass so theres no air gap. theres also a Live Colour Filter. the whole package combined with the bravia technology is Reality Display. maybe theyve upgraded it for the ARC S.
Basically a marketing scam, look at their display next to a galaxy s with a support amoled, it looks horrible next to it.
They need to make a dual core phone with 1gb of ram and far more storage than they put in the og arc. They waisted a great opportunity to make this phone special and able to compete with the big boys.
It’s the x10 all over again.
Why does their top tiered model, the Arc NOT have a FFC but their mid tiered Neo does? WTF SE?
The Arc already come with Sonys Reality Display with Mobile Bravia Engine.
Nothing new with it coming with the Arc S, but it is news that the PMP will contain the display.
