A Pair of Motorola Xoom 2’s Pose For The Camera – Super Slim 8.9-inch and 10.1-inch

On Friday, we showed you some leaked pics of what we believed to be Motorola’s upcoming Xoom 2 tablet. In one of the pics I noticed the tab was surprisngly small when compared to the hand holding the device and we now know why. Apparently Motorola has been hard at work on a pair of Xoom devices slated for a holiday release — one with a 10.1-inch screen and the other with an 8.9-inch display. Just like my women, thickness is always a factor when deciding on a future Android device but don’t let these pics fool you. The smaller one, dubbed “Flemming” measures in at only 9.3mm thick and when compared to the almost too thin 8.6mm Galaxy Tab 10.1, that’s not too shabby.

Both of these Xoom 2’s feature new IPS displays, 5MP HD rear cams, are LTE enabled and are running Android 3.2 that’s reported to be “buggy as all hell, with frequent reboots and crashes.” Let’s hope some of these issues can be remedied once Ice Cream Sandwich drops later this year. Design wise, I think Motorola is definitely hitting the mark. I’ve always been one for the “industrial/screw look” of my late Zune. What do you guys think?

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. Would never consider using a rear camera on a tablet …. lol

    1. I always felt REALLY silly when using the rear cam in public. Lol

      1. When do you not feel silly?

        1. That’s a damn good question, Richard.. =/

        2. Yeah, get over it. You can do some cool things recording straight from movie studio on a big screen.

    2. I would never consider a tablet period.

  2. I would not buy another motorola device since my Xoom still does not have lte radios and just got the as card working after being out for months

    1. Totally agree – I feel a little (OK a lot) left out in the cold by Moto & VZ after being a *very* early adopter. 90 days came and went, early summer came and went. Now September has come, and is on it’s way out. I still don’t have LTE on my Xoom, didn’t root so I don’t have SD card working.

  3. Be interesting to see if the pictures are showing the charger attached… I love my Xoom but I’m not crazy about that little spindly charger.

  4. Why bother? The first one was a failure. And this time it looks ugly, and thick. Obviously Motorola has no innovative minds.

    1. Thick? Did you miss the part about it being 9.3mm? That’s as thin as the iPhone 4. The original Xoom was 12.9mm!

  5. Only if your home and wanna take picture s but other wise you look like a douche taking it with a tablet lol.

  6. It’s all about thickness and weight for me.

  7. Thickness is a factor for me too, also number of ports and processor speed…

  8. Looks like the 10.1 still has the speakers on the back, which is a bit of a no-no. I think the smaller one looks pretty nice though.
