Motorola Droid X in line for an update, Motorola seeking testers [Update: Official changelog posted]

10

Motorola is contacting members of their Feedback Network in search of testers for a new software update to none other than the Droid X. Given its age and the release of the Droid X2 last year, there didn’t seem to be much hope for further support of the 4.3-inch phone that set the bar pretty high for every Droid to follow, but Moto and Verizon aren’t done yet. Before owners nearing the end of their two-year contract get too excited, it isn’t likely that the Droid X will be getting Ice Cream Sandwich any time soon. Expect bug fixes and other enhancements to the device’s Gingerbread build.

Update: Verizon has posted to official changelog to the update, which will bring the Droid X to software version 4.5.621. As we first postulated, bug fixes are the main goal here. You can see the full list of what to expect over at Verizon’s support site.

[Thanks, tipster!]

  2. This phone has not let me down ever since i bought it. Hope fully the new update will not ruin it with bugs.

  3. I have the X and absolutely love this phone.  It’s a very sturdy phone with an aluminum body.  Best phone I’ve ever owned.  I’ve had it for a year and a half and it’s still going strong.  Glad to see Moto and Verizon still supporting it with bug fixes.

  4. Best phone ever. Even did 2 cycles through washing machine. Gad it since launch and not ready to give it up. ics hopefully some day.

  5. Ok now…
+ Button background lighting turns off while in the desktop cradle.
If this fixes it, then maybe moto might get more respect from me.  I’d have serious doubts about purchasing a Moto phone that is not supported leaving customers with a broken phone full of bugs!
    Thanks…hopefully.
Then, part two.  Moto  hasn’t announced an update for ICS to the Droid Razr!  I just got this phone last week for my wife.  If there isn’t an update to it, screw Moto.
Phones are about customer service and support if we are signing 2 year contracts.
There might be light at the end of the tunnel for Moto.  I have to admit, they make a quality product hardware wise and their phones are hands down the best at pulling in good signal stregnth.

    1. Motorola announced when it is getting an update between q2 and q3 2012

  7. This is not just a phone, its almost family like……helps the kids with their homework, keeps my lady from getting lost and pays for my Starbucks……..I have had it since day one and my 2 other lines have DXs……long live the X.

  8. I love my dx.. but hate that it loses my 3g signal and all my bars…just recently started that.why??
