After a mysterious “soak test” was opened up to a select few Motorola Xoom WiFi owners, we were left scratching our heads on what Motorola could have planned. Well, an email to Droid-Life this evening has detailed exactly what to expect from this test, as build number IMM76 begins its official rollout any day now. The Android 4.0.4 update is said to include quicker screen rotation (seriously, that’s a huge Android pet peeve of mine), new screen lock setting, camera improvements and the usual bug fixes.

I know it’s a little early to expect a broader rollout, but perhaps it’s already trickled down to a few Xoom users? Anyone out there getting prompted for anything yet?

I mean, the Xoom WiFi isn’t tied to a carrier so it eliminates the middleman so to speak..
The Nexus isn’t supposed to be
Sure it is. I mean they have to test the radios. You don’t have that issue with a wifi device. You will always have a delay when carriers are involved even if Google is providing the updates.
Chris that’s just lame, updates on android are a nightmare, people are getting tired of beign outdated when only a few have the advantage of being up to date. Google must work much closer with carriers so everyone get the updates.
You guys need to write a piece about the fact that the Nexus S 9020A (ATT model) hasn’t yet received an update and that Google can’t even give some kind of explanation or ETA on anything aside from the usual in the “Next Few Weeks”.
How is it ok for any company to give its users the silent treatment after failing to deliver on a promise…they did say Nexus S owners would have the ICS update starting end of december…and then Crickets.

I hate you Verizon, on multiple levels…
1. The XOOM is about to leapfrog the Galaxy Nexus in version number; ridiculous.
2. There is absolutely NO excuse for the fact that the LTE XOOM is this far behind the Wi-Fi version. IT’S THE SAME F’N DEVICE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE RADIO!

Direct my anger at Google when they are clearly providing manufacturers what they need to provide customers with an update. What is the only difference between the LTE XOOM and the Wi-Fi XOOM? Verizon. Google and Motorola clearly have little or nothing to do with the delay.

Google/Motorola are working just fine and have released 4.0.3>4.04
when you add VZW in the mix, they are suddenly 3 steps behind.
When you have a company, Google, who doesn’t give a rats ass about updating their own fucking phone line, it’s pretty reasonable to assume they don’t give a fuck about the user and could care less if you get updated or not. Hence, they are not providing the tools for carriers and manufacturers to do this for their customers.
I’m so glad I got rid of my Nexus S. What a lie and complete farce by Google in their marketing of this device as receiving “timely updates”
You should open your eyes and stop patronizing a company that lies and deceives in an attempt to sell as many devices as they can, so they can dominate the mobile search market and make the most money in that space. Manholdup is so right. I’m a Xoom user that has the update but at the same time I’m a nexus S user without the update that was promised so long ago…its getting clearer by the day that Google A. Doesn’t give a F** about updating devices in a professional way (a.k.a like Apple ) or B. They just suck huge B**ls at this … Its crazy people try to defend Google still…

Very nice; now my Xoom will be at the same level as my Galaxy Nexus- though I am hoping to see 4.0.5 leaked for the Galaxy Nexus within the next several days… sort of expected it to already be out there, really.
What I don’t understand is why does samsung won’t do the same?
They just ignore those early adopters who bought the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and still wait for an upgrade to ICS!
